Grade School
Our mission work was founded because of many concerns that arose.. Most of the schools were destroyed by the natural disaster. Some of the children lost their care providers and their families and all of their belongings. A large percentage of the schools were no longer existed. The majority of students who were living in the Capital of Port-Au-Prince could not attend schools. Arrangement was made to move in with extended families in the countryside where schools were still functioning after the earthquake. The school systems in Haiti are privately paid. Students who were in positions to pay tuitions but now cannot afford it any longer. The demands for schools in the countryside increased overnight. Our obligation to the church and community was to fulfill this great demand and as a result..
There are seventeen schools operating in each of the church building locations. Education is being providing for a total of 2,021 students and by 86 paid teachers. The demand continues; the newest school is just open its door in October 2011. It is actually located in the Capital of Port-Au-Prince, Petition-Ville on Route Frere. We are estimating to have 80 plus students registered. In the countryside, outside of the Capital of Port-Au-Prince we have sixteen schools. More teachers are needed, as well as school supplies, including furniture, tents and food to provide free lunch for the students.
